Capcom’s stacked 2026 release schedule expands in just a few weeks when Onimusha: Way of the Sword launches for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X, and Switch 2 on September 25. Preorders are available now, with standard, steelbook, and digital editions up for grabs ahead of the game’s release. All versions include a few preorder bonuses to boot–though if you’re looking to purchase the game on PC, you can already save nearly 20% by preordering via Fanatical. We’ve got the full details on each version plus all preorder bonuses outlined below.

All editions of Onimusha: Way of the Sword include a set of two cosmetics: the Lion Dog Charm and the Sealed Curse sword skin. When the Lion Dog Charm is equipped, it will grant a “special” mystery effect that strengthens Musashi, and the sword skin gives his blade a sinister appearance.
These two extra items are included will all versions of the game, including all physical and digital editions. However, if you preorder the digital-only Deluxe Edition or Premium Deluxe Edition ahead of launch, you’ll also unlock two additional in-game items: the White Lion sword skin and White Monkey Charm.

Note that the physical Switch 2 version is a Game Key-Card release, so you’ll need enough storage capacity to download the game to your console for it. According to the Switch eShop, the game will take up 34.2GB of space.

The first new game in the series in 20 years, the third-person action-adventure follows the legendary samurai Miyamoto Musashi on his journey across Kyoto during the Edo period. Equipped with a sentient gauntlet that has the power to consume the souls of defeated enemies, Musashi can use them to power up his skills as he takes on rival swordsmen and demons.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword is one of several big games launching in September. It’ll be going up against Sony’s tentpole PS5 release, Marvel’s Wolverine, and preorders are also open for its physical edition. You can also grab Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 in October, and Switch 2 owners can preorder Star Fox and Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition.
